Batman Dark Victory
Which Batman comics should I read after Long Halloween & Dark Victory?
I've read Haunted Knight, The Killing Joke, Hush, and Year One already, and I just bought The Dark Knight Strikes Again & The Dark Knight Returns (I think it's called).
I'm looking for stuff similar to the noir-ish feel of Jeph Loeb & Frank Miller, but any recommendations are appreciated!
Frank Miller and Jeph Loeb do an exceptional job with Batman (especially with the books you've listed, which I consider to be required Batman reading).
I wouldn't suggest reading many other Miller Batman books though. He begins to take the character in a direction that I don't like. Jeph Loeb, though, generally does a good job with the character and I would suggest books like "Batman & Superman: Public Enemies".
Grant Morrison's Batman Epic is easily the best Batman writing in recent years. The required reading (chronologically) is as follows:
- Batman and Son
- Batman: The Black Glove
- Batman: R.I.P.
- Final Crisis
- Batman & Robin (Volumes I & II)
- The Return of Bruce Wayne (Still being written and released).
I also recommend "Batman: Tales of the Demon", a good Ras Al Ghul book by Denny O'Neill.
The death of Jason Todd (featured prominently in Hush) is required Batman reading and is collected in "A Death in the Family". A good companion book is "A Lonely Place of Dying", the story of how Tim Drake became he third robin.
