Boom Comics
The comic book speculation boom?
Anyone (comic book store owners/managers/staff or just collectors in general)who want to share their story with me about the comic book speculation boom of the early 1990's??? I know this is a pretty broad question but I just want to know what was the atmosphere like during the time. I will also post more specific questions if people are willing to share their stories.

I remember when I started collecting in the 90's you just had to get every copy of a comic or you felt your collection would be incomplete. When Marvel released X-Men #1 with the 5 different covers, you just had to get them all. Same with Spider-Man #1. Then you had people who never collected comics going out and buying 20 copies of these comics thinking that later they would be able to sell these comics for a lot of money.
In the 90's, variant covers were all the rage. From shrink-wrapped comics with different cards(X-Force #1), chromium covers, foil stamped, and hologram.
The collapse happened, IMO, because all the speculators found out that all the books they bought were now worthless because so many copies existed. So they stopped buying and then stores were stuck with all these copies and no one to buy them. Stores then started buying less. Where they were buying 50-100 copies of a book, they dropped their orders to 10-20.
