Lot Fantastic
I work in childcare and have a child that does not care - behaviour wise. I have done a lot but would like....?
I have a child in my room that no matter what, will hit kick etc. When the child is good he is fantastic but next day could spell trouble. Family are flexible and there are no environment changes. I'm just running out of ideas - does anyone have any tips that might be good to try???? oh yeah the child is around 2 to 3 (sorry for making it so vague)
When I worked in preschool as a toddler teacher, I also had a little girl who, no matter what, would continue to be mischievous. If this child is like the girl I had, then it is because he/she enjoys the attention they are getting from you when do it. Children crave attention. Some try to get it in good ways then others in bad, such as your child. The girl in my class would bite, scratch, hit, kick, push and even curse other children (Yes, I know that sounds extreme but it happens with a lot of children especially if they live in that sort of environment) They will do whatever it takes to get it.
Find activities for him/her to do. That is how we did it. As long as you can keep them occupied then they don't think about all the negative possibilities to get your attention because they have it. But it is the good kind of attention. Plus this way you can give equal attention to all of your children and not just one. Always remember to reward each child for their good behavior because that will make them want to do good more.
I'm not saying that this will solve it completely because children get bored but every time your child starts to behave negatively, redirect them to another activity. It is a tough job, I know but in time it should get better and you will be less stressed. Children can tell when you are stressed and some will know that that is the time to really push your buttons and test you.
