What Batman comics should I read?
I'm just starting to dip my toes into comic books, and would like to read Batman, but there seem to be so many different series and mini-series. Where should I begin?
Batman: Year One
The Long Halloween
Batman: The Killing Joke
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth
The Dark Knight Returns
These are the five most popular Batman stories of the past few decades, and have very different styles (Year One is very grounded, the Dark Knight Returns is over the top, Arkham Asylum is kinda crazy).
Others you might want to check out:
Hush (very popular, I didn't like it)
Dark Victory (a not-as-good sequel to the Long Halloween)
Gotham by Gaslight (alternate history story where Batman faces jack the ripper)
Mad Love (Harley Quinn & Joker story in the style of the 90's cartoon)

The Man Who Laughs (picks up where Year One left off)
Tales of the Demon (origins of Ra's al Ghul)
