Why is "Family Circus" mixed in with the comics?
I always thought that the comics page was supposed to be funny (99%) and interesting to read (that final 1% where they do soap operas in graphic novel form).
So... what exactly is Family Circus doing on the comics page?
1. It's not funny.
2. It isn't drawn particularly well.
3. There is no plot.
4. From what I can tell, the point of... whatever it is... is to highlight cuteness.
5. I don't need to read about cartoon children acting cute or saying mildly unusual things.
6. If you want cute, adopt a homeless kitten or puppy.
7. Remove this garbage from the paper.
8. Pay Watterson whatever he wants and bring back Calvin and Hobbes, or perhaps give a funny artist a chance.
You've addressed your question to the wrong venue. What you need to do is take what you have written, address it to "Dear Editor," add your name and a phone number (so it can be verified that you are indeed the author of the letter), put it in an envelope, get a copy of your local newsletter, look up the address of the newspaper, address the letter to the entertainment editor, put a stamp on the envelope, and mail the letter.
Chances are nothing will happen as a result, but if a few other people write in and agree with you 'The Family Circus' might be replaced by something else. Don't be amazed if a few people defend 'The Family Circus', which does have some appeal to young parents and to grandparents.
By the way, your point #8 won't be relevant, so suggest some strip which your local paper doesn't run, but could run, as a replacement.
