How would you change the Champions League format to prevent top nations from dominating the club competition?
Unlike the prestige, drama and dimension of the old European Cup competition, the Champions League today has an air of predictability, with three English clubs in the semis (Chelsea, Liverpool and Man. Utd). What can be changed to ensure that Europe's biggest club trophy isn't monopolised by one league?
you would only do this if you are platini and want to placate smaller nations... while the intent is noble, i don't think it's a viable one. c'mon do you want to kick out say liverpool or arsenal or even valencia or sevilla and put fc minsk (who?) to play with the likes of man utd, barcelona, madrid, etc?
there has to be a sensible balance of equities...
the only way i can think of, tier 1 and tier 2 competitions... and i don't mean the cl and uefa cup... at least you make everyone happy.
