Table Issues
I have been divorced for a little over a year. There are still some issues on the table...?
I have joint custody but we still have to go to court over smaller matters like vacations and my kids interest in spending more time with me. I went to my ex's lawyer in person with my usual child support check. I asked him if we can stop all this legal stuff and that I would represent myself. He said he would talk to my ex and see what she said. The next day he filed motions in regards to a bunch of minor stuff just to irritate me instead of actually talking to my ex about toning down the legal stuff. This must of also came from my ex as well since she hired him. I then had to hire an attorney thus spending money that is better spent for their college education.How can I get to a peaceful exsistence with my ex? I did file for divorce but for good reason and got my fair share of the time with the kids as well as monetary reward. She has been bitter ever since.
Because you filed, she is very bitter and angry with you. If you have moved on with your life, such as having a new g/f etc..., she is upset that you have moved on. She may still love you, but is really angry that you left. Whatever the reason for the divorce, she may not feel like she had any part of it. Once she begins to piece her life back together, she may not be so angry and vindictive. Right now she is hurt, and the only way she can make you pay for the pain you caused her is through money. Although she may know this, she isn't thinking clearly because she is jaded by the hurt and pain from the divorce, especially if she was blindsided by it. She needs counseling to deal with this, but unfortunately she may not get it. If you suggest it, she won't go in order to spite you, but if a friend of hers suggests it, she may think about it. The only thing you can do is be there for your child(ren). You might want to ask her if he spoke to her about it, because some lawyers aren't always looking out for their client's best interest, just their pocketbooks. Why are you giving him the child support check? Each and every transaction in this case is billable isn't it?
