AR-15 opion for the best brand?
I am looking for a good AR-15, which is an m16 civilian variant. For my 18th birthday I am going to buy one, but am not sure which is the best. For the most part money is not an issue but selecting the right brand is. I have heard JP enterprises puts out a nice rifle, but I am interested in the best. Please leave brands and links to assist me in my purchase.
The rolex of ARs right now is the Sabre Defence. It's made in Nashville, TN but owned by an English company and carries a high price. Right behind it is SLR-15 from Defensive Edge. It's American made, but not an off the shelf rifle, you have to order it they way you want it.
The next step is Bushmaster, Armilite, Rock River Arms and DPMS. Colt could also be lumped with them. One nice thing about ARs is the lower can take differnt uppers thus giving you a choice of barrel lengthes with out having to buy a whole new firearm. Colt however uses a differnt pin set up than most everyone less making you have to swith pins when useing a Colt lower with another manufactures upper.
I don't know anything about JP enterprises. If your looking for an AR-15 copy of a M16, make sure it has a 5.56 Nato chamber and a crome lined barrel. This is for reliability with a wide range of ammo. If your looking for a tack driver the .223 Remington chambers tend to be more accuarate, but can be finicky when it comes to ammo.
In the end it's your money and you can spend it anyway you want too.
